AI - from artificial to augmentation
Situation: “AI has got to be our silver bullet but I’ve no idea who is using it here or how, and we have no plan. Help!”
Issue: Risk of confidentiality breach or regulatory failure, missed opportunities, losing sleep, few guardrails, misuse or unapproved use (shadow AI), no coherent approach.
Solution: Define initial objectives, set an initial policy (or position statement) and evolve it, bring stakeholders together to share ideas and agree guardrails (working group), define use cases, review what works elsewhere, test and learn with controlled experiments, connect and share experiences, roll out with purpose, monitor and improve, improve and reissue updated policy.
Impact: improvements to productivity and ways of working (time saved, accuracy improved), reassurance and improved compliance, safe spaces to learn with minimal risk, bringing everyone along on the journey.
AI feels overwhelming to everyone but it’s just a tool, albeit a powerful one. Taking a common sense approach to see where to streamline what you already do, and what new opportunities lie ahead, grounding this in experience and basic data protection, information security and risk management and coming together with your colleagues ideas and needs, builds the best system you can have. And it all starts with listening to others and talking it through. Book a chat to take the next steps in your journey.
